A SENATE RESOLUTION

TO EXPRESS DEEP APPRECIATION TO ANGELLE LABORDE FOR HER SERVICE WITH THE GREENWOOD SC CHAMBER OF COMMERCE AS SHE ENDS HER TIME WITH THE CHAMBER, TO CONGRATULATE HER ON BEING NAMED PRESIDENT AND CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER OF THE LEXINGTON CHAMBER & VISITORS CENTER AND TO WISH HER MUCH SUCCESS IN THE DAYS AHEAD.

Whereas, for more than a decade, Angelle LaBorde, a nationally recognized Certified Chamber Executive, has dedicated herself to providing service and leadership to the Greenwood business community. She has a proven track record of stimulating gains in revenues, promoting and advocating for public policy initiatives, and extensive community engagement; and

Whereas, with a focus on advancing the community, under the leadership of Ms. LaBorde, the Greenwood Chamber led a successful community-wide marketing campaign for the passage of the Capital Project Sales Tax referendum, known as the Vote YES for Greenwood campaign; and

Whereas, during her tenure with the Greenwood Chamber, she celebrated two major milestones in their history. In 2014, the Chamber celebrated one hundred years of operation and in 2017, the SC Festival of Flowers celebrated fifty years of offering a variety of entertainment for visitors and families, and showcasing Greenwood's rich horticulture heritage; and

Whereas, devoted to advancing the economic climate of Greenwood, the SC Festival of Flowers has yielded more than four million dollars in economic impact for the Greenwood community and has received numerous awards from state, regional, and international festival and event associations. Likewise, with the draw of Lake Greenwood, Ms. LaBorde guided the Chamber to initiate Connect Lake Greenwood. As a part of the initiative, the Chamber promoted successful events like the Lights on the Lake fireworks show, Life on the Lake Summit, and the Music on the Lake concert series; and

Whereas, leaving her mark on the organization, Ms. LaBorde led the organization to accreditation by the Carolinas Association of Chamber Executives. Additionally, with board support, the 110% Givers program was launched whereby member companies provided an additional ten percent voluntary contribution to fund scholarships for Greenwood County high school graduates at both Piedmont Technical College and Lander University. The fund, now endowed at the Greenwood County Community Foundation, continues today; and

Whereas, prior to relocating to Greenwood as the Chamber's first female executive, Ms. LaBorde served as CEO for the Jefferson, Louisiana Chamber of Commerce for more than seven years. She also has prior career experience with the United Way for the Greater New Orleans area and the American Diabetes Association and possesses a certificate in non-profit management from Winthrop University; and

Whereas, the members of the Senate recognize that the success of the State of South Carolina, the strength of its communities, and the vitality of American society as a whole depend, in great measure, upon the dedication of individuals like Angelle LaBorde who use their talents and resources to serve their community. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate:

That the members of the South Carolina Senate, by this resolution, express deep appreciation to Angelle LaBorde for her service with the Greenwood SC Chamber of Commerce as she departs her time with the Chamber, congratulate her on being named President and Chief Executive Officer of the Lexington Chamber and Visitors Center, and wish her much success in the days ahead.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Ms. Angelle LaBorde.
