A SENATE RESOLUTION

TO CONGRATULATE AND RECOGNIZE THE HONORABLE CHAUNCEY K. "GREG" GREGORY UPON THE OCCASION OF HIS DEPARTURE FROM THE SOUTH CAROLINA SENATE, TO COMMEND HIM FOR HIS COMBINED TWENTY-FIVE YEARS OF DISTINGUISHED SERVICE TO THIS BODY, AND TO WISH HIM ALL THE BEST IN THE YEARS TO COME.

Whereas, the Honorable Chauncey K. "Greg" Gregory has represented the citizens of Senate District 16 in Lancaster and York counties for twenty-five years; and

Whereas, a native of Lancaster, Senator Gregory was born on March 18, 1963 as the son of C. D. Gregory, Jr., and Eleanor Purdy Tillman. He is an alumnus of the University of South Carolina, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration; and

Whereas, with an accomplished career as a businessman, Senator Gregory has served as president and owner of Builders Supply Company in Lancaster since 1987; and

Whereas, during his legislative tenure, Senator Gregory served in the Senate from 1993 to 2008 and then again from 2011 to 2020. His most notable accomplishments include successful legislation on conservation and economic development, driving his counties to be some of the fastest growing in the country. Over the years, he has lent his expertise to many committees, and he currently serves on the Agriculture and Natural Resources Committee; Family and Veterans' Services Committee; Finance Committee; Fish, Game and Forestry Committee, which he previously served as chairman; and Rules Committee; and

Whereas, as a civic leader, Senator Gregory has served his community and State in various capacities, among them as a member of the University of South Carolina Board of Trustees, Lancaster Rotary Club, Nepal Orphans Home Board of Directors, and Springs Memorial Hospital Board of Directors; and

Whereas, a devout Christian, he finds his spiritual home at First Presbyterian Church of Lancaster, where he serves as a deacon; and

Whereas, Senator Gregory and his wife, the former Sherri Cauthen, live in Lancaster. Together, they have two children, Marshall and Ellen Gray; and

Whereas, Senator Gregory's colleagues in the Senate are grateful for his tireless labors on behalf of the citizens of Senate District 16 and the entire State of South Carolina. The members extend their best wishes for much success and fulfillment in the years ahead. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate:

That the members of the South Carolina Senate, by this resolution, congratulate and recognize the Honorable Chauncey K. "Greg" Gregory upon the occasion of his departure from the South Carolina Senate, commend him for his combined twenty-five years of distinguished service to this body, and wish him all the best in the years to come.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to the Honorable Chauncey K. "Greg" Gregory.
