VERSIONS OF THIS BILL
TO CELEBRATE THE SPARTANBURG HIGH SCHOOL GIRLS RELAY SWIM TEAM ON CAPTURING TWO 2018 CLASS AAAAA STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS AND TO CONGRATULATE THE SWIMMERS AND THEIR COACHES ON AN OUTSTANDING SEASON.
Whereas, having proved themselves unstoppable, the Spartanburg High School girls relay swim team defeated all comers at their state championship meet, held at the University of South Carolina on October 8, 2018; and
Whereas, when the final lengths were complete, the amazing relay team of Sarah Grace Byers, Sophie Kannee, Anika McEnroe, and Kristi McEnroe won not one, but two state championships, the 200 medley relay and the 400 freestyle relay, nearly setting state records in both events. In addition, Kirsti McEnroe was the state champion in the 200 freestyle; and
Whereas, jubilant Spartanburg fans cheered with excitement as the Lady Vikings, with equal doses of heart and hustle, orchestrated a performance that gave sports pundits confidence in predicting a repeat triumph for 2019; and
Whereas, having honed their athletes into a championship machine, Head Coach John Wolfe and Assistant Coach Johnna Edwards saw the fruits of their labors as the title trophy was hoisted; and
Whereas, to add further sweetness to the victory, Sarah Grace Byers, Sophie Kannee, Annika McEnroe, and Kirsti McEnroe were tapped for All-Region and All-State; and
Whereas, appreciative of the deservedly fine reputation of the Spartanburg High girls relay swim team, the House is pleased to add its praise to the voices of the Lady Vikings' many fans and to congratulate them on their title win. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:
That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, celebrate the Spartanburg High School girls relay swim team on capturing two 2018 Class AAAAA State Championships and congratulate the swimmers and their coaches on an outstanding season.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Principal Jeff Stevens and Head Coach John Wolfe of Spartanburg High School.
