A HOUSE RESOLUTION

TO CONGRATULATE THE LANDRUM HIGH SCHOOL BASEBALL TEAM FOR AN IMPRESSIVE SEASON AND TO CELEBRATE THE CARDINALS' CAPTURE OF THE 2019 CLASS AA STATE CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE.

Whereas, on Wednesday, May 15, 2019, the Landrum High School baseball team claimed the 2019 Class AA State Championship title with a 4-2 victory, powering past Oceanside Collegiate at Mount Pleasant's Shipyard Park; and

Whereas, the Cardinals swept the best-of-three series against Oceanside, ending the AA state baseball championship in two games. With the sweep, Landrum showcased the great pitching and timely hitting they'd been putting forth all year; and

Whereas, Evan Siary started on the mound for the Cardinals, striking out ten and holding the Landsharks off the scoreboard, with the exception of a wild second inning. Siary threw 101 pitches through six innings and gave way to his brother, John, to close things out in the seventh. John Siary got two quick grounders, walked a batter, and ended the game and the series on a strikeout; and

Whereas, by the time the players had claimed the crown, Landrum fans were already making plans to return next year to see their team repeat the feat; and

Whereas, demonstrating courage, drive, and pure heart, the Cardinals turned in a marvelous performance of teamwork, keeping the excited crowd enthralled; and

Whereas, using his own considerable athletic training and skills, Head Coach Daniel Little built his players into championship caliber and encouraged them not to settle for second best; and

Whereas, proud of these fine student athletes, the South Carolina House of Representatives appreciates the recognition the Landrum High School baseball players have brought to their school and community, and the members look to hear of many more victories for the school in coming seasons. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, congratulate the Landrum High School baseball team for an impressive season and celebrate the Cardinals' capture of the 2019 Class AA State Championship title.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Principal J. Kegan Flynn and Head Coach Daniel Little of Landrum High School.
