A HOUSE RESOLUTION

TO CONGRATULATE CRISTIE CHANEY CALDWELL UPON BEING NAMED 2020-2021 AIKEN ELEMENTARY TEACHER OF THE YEAR, TO EXPRESS APPRECIATION FOR HER DEDICATED SERVICE TO THE CHILDREN OF THIS GREAT STATE, AND TO WISH HER CONTINUED SUCCESS IN THE FUTURE.

Whereas, the House of Representatives is pleased to learn that Cristie Chaney Caldwell has been selected 2020-2021 Teacher of the Year for Aiken Elementary School; and

Whereas, in preparation for her life's work, Cristie earned her bachelor's degree in elementary education from Anderson University, followed by a master's degree in the same subject from Clemson University. She later earned a gifted and talented endorsement. Currently, she is pursuing a master's degree in the teaching of mathematics at the University of South Carolina in Columbia; and

Whereas, a fifth-grade lead teacher who team teaches math, as well as gifted and talented, Cristie's career as an educator began at Sue Cleveland Elementary School in Greenville County. She also taught for several years in Pickens County before taking up her duties with Aiken County Public School District's Aiken Elementary School in 2004; and

Whereas, because Christie believes strongly in active participation in her community, she serves that community in various ways. She is a member of Millbrook Baptist Church and volunteers in the student ministry program. Further, she is a board member for Poured Out Ministries, which works with college students; and

Whereas, Cristie and her husband, Rick T. Caldwell II, are the proud parents of daughters Ansley and Ellie; and

Whereas, grateful for the consistent commitment and excellence as an educator that Cristie Caldwell has bestowed on the Palmetto State, most particularly in Aiken County, the South Carolina House takes great pleasure in saluting her on receiving Aiken Elementary School's Teacher of the Year award. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, congratulate Cristie Chaney Caldwell upon being named 2020-2021 Aiken Elementary Teacher of the Year, express appreciation for her dedicated service to the children of this great State, and wish her continued success in the future.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Cristie Chaney Caldwell.
