VERSIONS OF THIS BILL
TO EXPRESS THE PROFOUND SORROW OF THE MEMBERS OF THE SOUTH CAROLINA HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES UPON THE PASSING OF MARY REISER SHEALY OF LEXINGTON COUNTY AND TO EXTEND THEIR DEEPEST SYMPATHY TO HER LARGE AND LOVING FAMILY AND HER MANY FRIENDS.
Whereas, the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives were saddened to learn of the death of Mary Reiser Shealy at the age of ninety-two on Sunday, February 16, 2020; and
Whereas, born in Clyo, Georgia, on October 20, 1927, she was the daughter of the late William Bartow and Carrie Mae Zittrouer Reiser, and she was reared in a large and loving family; and
Whereas, together with her beloved husband of seventy-one years, Otho Shealy, she reared three fine children: Judy Hays, Neal Shealy, and Brent Shealy. Her children blessed her with the affection of seven grandchildren: Will Hays, Joey Hays, Phillip Shealy, Luke Shealy, Jon Shealy, Brian Shealy, and Betsy Dority. Ten great-grandchildren added to her blessings: Kate, Jack, Annabel, Carson, James, Mary, Cora, Cole, Alex, and Lily; and
Whereas, a long-time resident of Leesville, Mrs. Shealy was a homemaker and a loving devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother; and
Whereas, a faithful and caring member of Wittenberg Lutheran Church, she was involved in a variety of activities there as long as her health allowed; and
Whereas, Mrs. Shealy enjoyed cooking, gardening, tennis, camping, and traveling, and throughout her life, she found the greatest joy in her family, especially her great-grandchildren, who elicited her biggest smiles, even during her Alzheimer's journey; and
Whereas, the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives are grateful for the life and legacy of Mary Shealy and for the example of joy and kindness she set for all who knew her. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:
That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, express their profound sorrow upon the passing of Mary Reiser Shealy of Lexington County and extend their deepest sympathy to her large and loving family and her many friends.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Mary Reiser Shealy.
