A HOUSE RESOLUTION

TO EXPRESS THE PROFOUND SORROW OF THE MEMBERS OF THE SOUTH CAROLINA HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES UPON THE PASSING OF HAROLD EUGENE "GENE" WILLIAMS OF NORTH AUGUSTA AND TO EXTEND THE DEEPEST SYMPATHY TO HIS FAMILY AND MANY FRIENDS.

Whereas, the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives were deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Harold Eugene "Gene" Williams of North Augusta on January 30, 2020, at the age of seventy-six; and

Whereas, one of twelve siblings, this lifelong resident of North Augusta was born on April 16, 1943, to John Henry Williams and Lillie Mae Williams. He was a 1962 graduate of North Augusta High School; and

Whereas, in preparation for his career, the young Gene also graduated from Greenville Technical College Dental Lab School and then became a successful businessman as the owner of Williams Dental Lab; and

Whereas, in God's time, he met and married the lovely Alice Jane Atkinson Williams (now deceased), and the couple founded a fine family of three: two daughters, Geannie and Amanda; and a son, John; and

Whereas, as a man of faith, he served the Lord as a member of Ridgeview Baptist Church; and

Whereas, predeceased by his parents, his wife, and ten brothers, Gene Williams leaves to cherish his memory a son, John Michael (Gina) Williams of North Augusta; two daughters, Geannie (Rodney) Coleman and Amanda (Thomas) Parrish, both of North Augusta; seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild; a sister, Lois W. Marble of Augusta; and a host of other family members and friends. He will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, express their profound sorrow upon the passing of Harold Eugene "Gene" Williams of North Augusta and extend the deepest sympathy to his family and many friends.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to John Michael Williams for the family.
