A BILL

TO AMEND ARTICLE 1, CHAPTER 47, TITLE 40 OF THE 1976 CODE, RELATING TO PHYSICIANS AND MISCELLANEOUS HEALTHCARE PROFESSIONALS, BY ADDING SECTION 40-47-39, TO PROVIDE THAT A PHYSICIAN MUST BE A MEMBER OF THE SOUTH CAROLINA MEDICAL ASSOCIATION TO PRACTICE MEDICINE IN THIS STATE.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

SECTION    1.    Article 1, Chapter 47, Title 40 of the 1976 Code is amended by adding:

"Section 40-47-39.    A person may not practice medicine in this State unless he has been authorized to do so pursuant to the provisions of this article and the person is a member in good standing of the South Carolina Medical Association."

SECTION    2.    This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
