A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO CONGRATULATE THE UNIVERSITY OF SOUTH CAROLINA COLLEGE OF PHARMACY TEAM, ADVISORS, AND SCHOOL OFFICIALS FOR WINNING THE 2018-2019 NATIONAL STUDENT PHARMACIST COMPOUNDING COMPETITION.

Whereas, the members of the South Carolina General Assembly are proud to recognize the University of South Carolina College of Pharmacy team for winning the National Student Pharmacist Compounding Competition on March 16 and 17, 2019 in Hollywood, Florida; and

Whereas, the University of South Carolina College of Pharmacy team is made up of Rebecca Caughman, Amee Shah, and Jessica Shue; and

Whereas, in January, the team competed in and won the local Pharmacy Compounding Competition; and

Whereas, from there, the team went on to compete against twenty top pharmacy university compounding teams from all over the United States in the National Student Pharmacist Compounding Competition, which is sponsored by LP3, Medisca, and Medisca Network. In this prestigious national competition, the University of South Carolina team won first place, excelling in all three categories of the competition: innovation, pharmaceutical knowledge, and pharmacy compounding formulation; and

Whereas, the team has achieved success under the guidance of its faculty advisor and coach, Kathy Quarles Moore, an Assistant Professor and Lab Director at the University of South Carolina College of Pharmacy and an independent practicing pharmacist at Riley's Drugs in Lexington, South Carolina and Apothecare Pharmacy in Leesville, South Carolina; and

Whereas, having won an intense and challenging competition, the University of South Carolina team members have proven that they are national champion scholars; and

Whereas, the members of the South Carolina General Assembly appreciate the pride and recognition that the University of South Carolina College of Pharmacy team has brought to its school and the State of South Carolina and look forward to a future filled with further accomplishments by the team and its talented pharmacy student leaders. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate, the House of Representatives concurring:

That the members of the South Carolina General Assembly, by this resolution, congratulate the University of South Carolina College of Pharmacy team, advisors, and school officials for winning the 2018-2019 National Student Pharmacist Compounding Competition.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to the University of South Carolina College of Pharmacy team; the Dean of the College of Pharmacy, Stephen Cutler; and Advisor Kathy Quarles Moore.
