A BILL

TO AMEND THE CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, BY ADDING SECTION 50-11-945 SO AS TO DECLARE A PORTION OF BEAVERDAM CREEK LOCATED IN LAURENS COUNTY AS A BIRD SANCTUARY.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

SECTION    1.    Article 5, Chapter 11, Title 50 of the 1976 Code is amended by adding:

"Section 50-11-945.    That portion of Beaverdam Creek located in Laurens County that is east of a longitude line W82.098 degrees, south of a latitude line W82.0854 degrees, and north of latitude line N34.623 degrees, is declared a bird sanctuary.

It is unlawful to discharge any explosive or firearm, including, but not limited to, BB guns and pellet rifles or attempt to trap, hunt, disturb, molest, or attempt to molest in any manner any bird or wild fowl of any species or to molest any birds' or wild fowls' nest within the sanctuary.

Any person violating the provisions of this section is guilty of a misdemeanor and, upon conviction, must be fined not more than two hundred dollars or be imprisoned for not more than thirty days."

SECTION    2.    This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
