A HOUSE RESOLUTION

TO CELEBRATE THE HAMMOND SCHOOL COMPETITIVE CHEERLEADING TEAM ON WINNING THE 2019 SOUTH CAROLINA INDEPENDENT SCHOOL ASSOCIATION CLASS 3A STATE CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE AND TO CONGRATULATE THE TEAM AND ITS COACHES ON A SCINTILLATING SEASON.

Whereas, having taken home the state title in 2000, 2014, 2015, and 2016, the Hammond School competitive cheerleading team is no stranger to the art of winning high honors. On November 14, the Lady Skyhawks refused to leave the 2019 championship competition without the hardware, and they proved themselves worthy of it; and

Whereas, soaring above a strong Ben Lippen team, Hammond's top-flight athletes finished with a score of 283 to the Falcons' 269; and

Whereas, the Sumter County Civic Center, site of the title competition, has seldom seen such a magnificent display of excellence as was demonstrated that day by the graceful Lady Skyhawks; and

Whereas, Co-Coaches Margaret Deans Grantz and Sally Mobley, with the help of Assistant Coach Georgia Theodore, urged their team to greater and greater effort toward achieving its very best performance. As a result, these dedicated coaches were well rewarded as Hammond was proclaimed the 2019 champion; and

Whereas, proud of the accomplishments of the Hammond School competitive cheerleading team, the members of the House of Representatives are delighted to profess themselves among the many fans of these fine athletes. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, celebrate the Hammond School competitive cheerleading team on winning the 2019 South Carolina Independent School Association Class 3A State Championship title and congratulate the team and its coaches on a scintillating season.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Headmaster Chris Angel and Co-Head Coaches Margaret Deans Grantz and Sally Mobley of Hammond School.
