A SENATE RESOLUTION

TO EXPRESS PROFOUND SORROW UPON THE PASSING OF RUTHIE MAE FULTON AND TO EXTEND THE DEEPEST SYMPATHY TO HER FAMILY AND MANY FRIENDS.

Whereas, the members of the South Carolina Senate were deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Ruthie Mae Fulton on March 9, 2022; and

Whereas, a native of Williamsburg County, Ruthie Mae, known affectionately as Mother Ruthie Mae, was born on December 6, 1926, to parents Joe and Mary McCrea; and

Whereas, a devout Christian, she was a member of Sandridge Believer's Holiness Church, where she served in so many capacities, including class leader, church secretary, member of the senior choir, pastor's aide, and she became the church mother; and

Whereas, Mother Ruthie Mae worked and took care of countless amounts of children. She loved to cook and feed her family, community, and beyond. She was well known for her delicious homemade cakes; and

Whereas, Mother Ruthie Mae was preceded in death by her husband, Deacon Harvey Fulton Sr.; her son, Elder Clyde Fulton; and her daughter, Patricia Brown; and

Whereas, she leaves to cherish her memory six daughters, Evangelist Mary (Bishop Henry) Smalls, Evangelist Katherine (Bishop Harley) Comber, Sister Mamie Ruth (Deacon James) Green, Missionary Odessa (Elder Moses) McKever, Missionary Laurie (Elder Harry) Brown, and Sister Daisy Mae (Willie) Barr; her four sons, Bishop Roosevelt (Missionary Maggie) Fulton, Harvey (Sister Gloria Ann) Fulton Jr., Elder Levern (Missionary Towanna) Fulton, and Dr. Wilbur (Dr. Tonya) Fulton; two grandsons that she raised as her own, Bishop Glenn (Evangelist Linda) Fulton and Bryant Fulton; a special daughter in law, Shirley Fulton; three sisters, Lady Pearlie Mae Gibbs, Elect Lady Flora (Bishop Joe) Gamble, Missionary Bernetha Gamble; two brothers, Abraham (Hazel) McCrea and Bishop Eugene (Elect Lady Linda) McCrea; a special niece that was just like a daughter to her, Pastor Janet (Bishop Charles) Brown; her grandchildren, Willette Brown, Gloria Milton, Aldo Brown, Lawanda Brown, Michelle Comber and Jazmeka Brown; and a great-great-granddaughter that she absolutely loved, Little Miss Faith Brown; and

Whereas, Mother Ruthie Mae left a beautiful legacy of one hundred eleven grandchildren, one hundred thirty-four great-grandchildren and forty-four great-great-grandchildren. She will be greatly missed. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate:

That the members of the South Carolina Senate, by this resolution, express profound sorrow upon the passing of Ruthie Mae Fulton and extend the deepest sympathy to her family and many friends.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Ruthie Mae Fulton.
