A SENATE RESOLUTION

TO CONGRATULATE ROBERT C. HUBBARD, III UPON THE OCCASION OF HIS RETIREMENT AS CHAIRMAN OF THE BOARD OF PHARMACY, TO COMMEND HIM FOR HIS YEARS OF DEDICATED SERVICE TO THE BOARD, AND TO WISH HIM MUCH HAPPINESS AND FULFILLMENT IN THE YEARS AHEAD.

Whereas, the members of the South Carolina Senate are pleased to recognize Robert C. Hubbard, III upon the occasion of his retirement from the Board of Pharmacy; and

Whereas, a native of Florence, Mr. Hubbard was born on February 26, 1946. He graduated from D. W. Daniel High School, and he earned degrees from Clemson University and the Medical University of South Carolina, College of Pharmacy; and

Whereas, Mr. Hubbard began his pharmacy career in Seneca at Alexander Drug Company in 1969. Later he worked with Sammeth Drug Company in Seneca and in 1977 he returned to Clemson as a pharmacist with Lynch Drug Company. He is a staff pharmacist at Hubbard/Young Pharmacy in Clemson, a pharmacy built and established in 1998 with partner, Ron Young; and

Whereas, Mr. Hubbard has been an active member of the South Carolina Pharmacy Association, having served in various roles during his pharmacy career. He is a vested member of the South Carolina Pharmacy Association and was awarded the Innovative Pharmacy Practice award in 1999; and

Whereas, a civic leader, Mr. Hubbard is a member of NABP, a member of the Phi Lambda Sigma Leadership Society, a life member of the Medical University of South Carolina, College of Pharmacy Alumni Association, a member of the Dean's Advisory Council for the Medical University of South Carolina, College of Pharmacy, and a Fellow of the American Society of Consultant Pharmacists; and

Whereas, Mr. Hubbard has served the last two years as Vice-Chairman of the Board of Pharmacy and is currently serving as Chairman of the Board; and

Whereas, Mr. Hubbard has always been active in the Clemson community, taking on many leadership roles, including serving as officer and director of the Clemson Rotary Club. In 2005, he received the Rotary Vocational Service award; and

Whereas, in 2011, Mr. Hubbard was the lead pharmacist on the Rotary Medical Mission Team to Honduras. He has also been a director of the Clemson Chamber of Commerce, District Chairman of the Oconee Boy Scouts, instructor at Philmont Scout Ranch, a director of the Foothills YMCA, and an organizer and director of Clemson Bank and Trust (now ParkSterling Bank); and

Whereas, a devout Christian, Mr. Hubbard is a member of the First Baptist Church of Clemson, having served as Sunday School Teacher and Chairman of the Deacons; and

Whereas, Mr. Hubbard is married to the former Claudia Blanford, and together, they have three children, Robert, IV (Bob), William (Bill), and Claudia Elizabeth (Betsy); and

Whereas, the members of the South Carolina Senate appreciate the passion and dedication that Mr. Hubbard has shown in serving the people and the State of South Carolina. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate:

That the members of the South Carolina Senate, by this resolution, congratulate Robert C. Hubbard, III upon the occasion of his retirement as Chairman of the Board of Pharmacy, commend him for his years of dedicated service to the board, and wish him much happiness and fulfillment in the years ahead.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Robert C. Hubbard, III.
