VERSIONS OF THIS BILL
TO AMEND SECTION 59-20-50, CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, RELATING TO THE STATE MINIMUM SALARY SCHEDULE FOR TEACHERS, SO AS TO EXTEND THE SCHEDULE FIVE YEARS SO THAT EACH CERTIFIED TEACHER IS ELIGIBLE TO RECEIVE A PAY RAISE FOR EACH OF THEIR FIRST TWENTY-EIGHT YEARS OF TEACHING.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:
SECTION 1. Section 59-20-50(4) of the 1976 Code is amended by adding an item at the end to read:
"(c) The state minimum salary schedule set forth in this subsection must be extended so that each certified teacher is eligible to receive a pay raise for each of their first twenty-eight years of teaching."
SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
