A BILL

TO AMEND THE CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, BY ADDING SECTION 31-3-60 SO AS TO PROVIDE THAT TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR HOUSING UNDER THE HOUSING AUTHORITY, AN INDIVIDUAL SHALL ATTEND ONE FINANCIAL LITERACY CLASS OFFERED OR APPROVED BY THE DEPARTMENT OF CONSUMER AFFAIRS.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

SECTION    1.    Article 1, Chapter 3, Title 31 of the 1976 Code is amended by adding:

    "Section 31-3-60.    To be eligible for housing under the housing authority, an individual shall attend one financial literacy class offered or approved by the Department of Consumer Affairs."

SECTION    2.    This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
