VERSIONS OF THIS BILL
TO RECOGNIZE AND HONOR ISIAH ROYAL, A SENIOR AT NEWBERRY COLLEGE, FOR AN OUTSTANDING SEASON AND TO CONGRATULATE HIM FOR WINNING THE 2021 DII NATIONAL WRESTLING CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE AT 141 POUNDS.
Whereas, the South Carolina House of Representatives is pleased to learn that Isiah Royal of Newberry College took top honors at the DII National Wrestling Championship in the 141-pound weight class on Friday, March 12, 2021, and Saturday, March 13, 2021, at America's Convention Center in St. Louis, Missouri; and
Whereas, a senior at Newberry College from Guyton, Georgia, Mr. Royal only lost one match in his last two seasons and compiled a collegiate career record of 92-27. He is eighth in Newberry history for career wins and third in career major decisions with 19; and
Whereas, he is a four-time NCAA qualifier and a three-time All American. In 2019, he was an NCAA runner-up and is the fourth all-time national wrestling champion for the Newberry Wolves; and
Whereas, in a sport that demands mental fortitude, stamina, and individual excellence, Mr. Royal capitalized on his athletic ability to forge a championship legacy and to learn lessons that will prove invaluable through life both on and off mats; and
Whereas, the South Carolina House of Representatives appreciates the pride and recognition that Isiah Royal has brought to Newberry College and to the Palmetto State, and the members look to hear of his continued accomplishments in the days ahead. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:
That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, recognize and honor Isiah Royal, a senior at Newberry College, for an outstanding season and congratulate him for winning the 2021 DII National Wrestling Championship title at 141 pounds.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Isiah Royal.
