A HOUSE RESOLUTION

TO CONGRATULATE THE CITY OF BELTON PARKS AND RECREATION 12U SOFTBALL TEAM AND COACHES FOR AN EXTRAORDINARY SEASON AND TO HONOR THEM FOR WINNING THE 2021 SOUTH CAROLINA RECREATION AND PARKS ASSOCIATION 12U STATE CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE.

Whereas, the South Carolina House of Representatives is pleased to learn that the members of the Belton Parks and Recreation 12U softball team of Anderson County captured the state title at the state tournament held in Beaufort from June 24 to June 26, 2021; and

Whereas, after an amazing 9-1 regular season, the Belton team won a seat in the state tournament by defeating all of their opponents in the western division playoffs in Anderson: Liberty in Game 1, Clemson/Central in Game 2, and Iva in Games 3 and 4; and

Whereas, to the delight and cheers of the team's faithful fans, Belton continued its undefeated post-season by defeating the Myrtle Beach team in Game 1 and the Iva team in Games 2 and 3 to claim the state title; and

Whereas, the members of the championship team included Hannah Knight, Stella Eichorn, Addisyn Vaughn, Allyson Vaughn, Molly Cowan, Caylee Stange, Madison Boggs, Carsen Foster, Kinsley Martin, Keyanna Blackwell, Anna Nelms, and Caroline Rogers; and

Whereas, the 2021 season produced the first state champions in the history of the City of Belton Parks and Recreation softball program and the program's first district champions; and

Whereas, in a sport that requires strength, strategy, and quickness, Head Coach Josh Vaughn and his skilled assistant coaches Chad Nelms, Corey Knight, and Brian Rogers maximized their own experience and training to produce a championship team and teach these athletes lessons that will prove invaluable through life both on and off the diamond; and

Whereas, the South Carolina House of Representatives appreciates the pride and recognition that the Belton softball players have brought to their community, and the members look to hear of their continued achievements in the days ahead. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, congratulate the City of Belton Parks and Recreation 12U softball team and coaches for an extraordinary season and honor them for winning the 2021 South Carolina Recreation and Parks Association 12U State Championship title.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Coach Josh Vaughn.
