TO CONGRATULATE MR. AND MRS. LEROY MORRISON OF CHARLESTON COUNTY ON THE OCCASION OF THEIR DIAMOND ANNIVERSARY, AND TO EXTEND BEST WISHES TO THEM FOR MANY MORE YEARS OF BLESSING AND FULFILLMENT.
Whereas, the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives are delighted to learn that Mr. and Mrs. Leroy Morrison celebrated their seventy-fifth wedding anniversary on June 12, 2022; and
Whereas, in 1947 in the month of June when roses send their fragrant and colorful blooms abroad, Wilhelmenia Roach and Leroy Morrison pledged to one another a lifetime of love and sharing as they were joined in holy matrimony; and
Whereas, these lifelong residents of the Town of Hollywood in Charleston County are the proud parents of eleven children whom they reared together: Eugene Morrison, Leroy Morrison, Solomon Morrison, Miriam Ann Morrison Green, George Morrison, and Archie Lloyd Morrison, and the late Frank Ray Morrison, the late Philip Morrison, the late Patricia Ann Morrison, and the late Johnny Mac Morrison; and
Whereas, the Morrison's children have blessed them with a bountiful legacy and the affection of twenty-four loving grandchildren, fifty-nine great-grandchildren, and seven great-great-grandchildren; and
Whereas, lovingly referred to as the family's "domestic engineer," Mrs. Morrison was a stay-at-home mother and was a self-taught barber, eventually passing that talent to her sons; and
Whereas, the family instilled in their children the value of hard work and entrepreneurship, having developed several business enterprises over the years: Morrison's Barber Shop, owned by son Eugene, is one of Hollywood's longest running businesses, and Mr. Morrison retired as the proprietor of George's Shoe Repair which was located in downtown Charleston on Cannon Street; and
Whereas, Mr. and Mrs. Morrison's family legacy is strengthened by their legacy as devout Christians and dedicated leaders in their hometown and in their church, Annivesta Missionary Baptist Church in Hollywood, where they serve as deacon and deaconess; and
Whereas, no success on earth crowns a life as does a marriage that endures the test of time and grows stronger with each passing year; and
Whereas, Mr. Morrison has learned the veracity of the proverb, "Whoso finds a wife finds a good thing, and obtains favor of the LORD," and he now considers one of his crowning achievements as having had the good sense to marry his beloved Wilhelmenia; and
Whereas, the South Carolina House of Representatives is pleased to honor this son and daughter of South Carolina at the celebration of their seventy-fifth anniversary and join with their family and friends in congratulating them on reaching this extraordinary milestone. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:
That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, congratulate Mr. and Mrs. Leroy Morrison of Charleston County on the occasion of their diamond anniversary and extend best wishes to them for many more years of blessing and fulfillment.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Mr. and Mrs. Leroy Morrison.
