A SENATE RESOLUTION

TO CONGRATULATE THE GILBERT HIGH SCHOOL GIRLS GOLF TEAM, COACHES, AND SCHOOL OFFICIALS ON AN OUTSTANDING SEASON AND TO HONOR THEM FOR WINNING THE SOUTH CAROLINA HIGH SCHOOL LEAGUE CLASS AAA GIRLS GOLF STATE CHAMPIONSHIP.

Whereas, the South Carolina Senate is proud to recognize the Gilbert High School girls golf team for winning the South Carolina High School League Class AAA Girls Golf State Championship on October 27, 2020 at Hackler Golf Course in Conway; and

Whereas, this historic win marks the program's first state championship in school history; and

Whereas, the team shot 626 over the two-day state tournament; and

Whereas, with an exceptional season overall, the team also won the Region V-AAA Championship and Class AAA Lower State Championship; and

Whereas, the team is composed of team members Ellie Chavis, Kennedy Gooding, Edie Raine Hardee, Alexis Hodge, and Meredith Price; and

Whereas, the Gilbert High School girls golf team has flourished under the leadership and guidance of Head Coach Dru Nix and Assistant Coach Connie Liley; and

Whereas, the members of the South Carolina Senate appreciate the pride and recognition that the Gilbert High School girls golf team has brought to its school and community and look forward to a future filled with further accomplishments by the team and its talented athletes. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate:

That the members of the South Carolina Senate, by this resolution, congratulate the Gilbert High School girls golf team, coaches, and school officials on an outstanding season and honor them for winning the South Carolina High School League Class AAA Girls Golf State Championship.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to the Gilbert High School girls golf team, Head Coach Dru Nix, and Principal Jacob Nelson.
