THE AIKEN DELEGATION

To whom was referred a Bill (S. 1060) to amend Section 7-7-40, Code of Laws of South Carolina, 1976, relating to the designation of voting precincts in Aiken County, so as to add, etc., respectfully

REPORT:

That they have duly and carefully considered the same and recommend that the same do pass with amendment:

Amend the bill, as and if amended, by striking SECTION 2 and inserting:

/        SECTION    2.    This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor and first applies to the 2022 General Election.        /

Renumber sections to conform.

Amend title to conform.

A BILL

TO AMEND SECTION 7-7-40, CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, RELATING TO THE DESIGNATION OF VOTING PRECINCTS IN AIKEN COUNTY, SO AS TO ADD CREEK NO. 85 AND COMMUNITY NO. 86 VOTING PRECINCTS, AND TO UPDATE THE MAP NUMBER ON WHICH THE NAMES OF THE AIKEN COUNTY VOTING PRECINCTS MAY BE FOUND AND MAINTAINED BY THE REVENUE AND FISCAL AFFAIRS OFFICE.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

SECTION    1.    Section 7-7-40 of the 1976 Code is amended to read:

"Section 7-7-40.    (A)    In Aiken County there are the following voting precincts:

(B)    Precinct lines defining the precincts provided in subsection (A) of this section are as shown on the official map prepared by and on file with the Revenue and Fiscal Affairs Office designated as document P-03-16 P-03-22 and as shown on certified copies of the official map provided by the office to the State Election Commission and the Board of Voter Registration and Elections of Aiken County.

(C)    Polling places for the precincts provided in subsection (A) of this section must be established by the Board of Voter Registration and Elections of Aiken County with the approval of a majority of the county legislative delegation."

SECTION    2.    This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
