TO CONGRATULATE DR. GARY HOLLINGSWORTH UPON THE OCCASION OF HIS RETIREMENT FROM THE SOUTH CAROLINA BAPTIST CONVENTION, TO COMMEND HIM FOR HIS SEVEN YEARS OF DEDICATED SERVICE, AND TO WISH HIM MUCH HAPPINESS AND FULFILLMENT IN THE YEARS AHEAD.
Whereas, the members of the South Carolina Senate are pleased to recognize Dr. Gary Hollingsworth upon the occasion of his retirement from the South Carolina Baptist Convention on April 30, 2023; and
Whereas, Dr. Hollingsworth graduated from the University of Alabama in 1979 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Recreation Administration. He earned a Master of Divinity degree from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in 1984 and a Doctor of Ministry degree from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in 1996; and
Whereas, Dr. Hollingsworth has served as the Executive Director-Treasurer of the South Carolina Baptist Convention since January 13, 2016. He came to South Carolina from Little Rock, Arkansas, where he was serving as pastor of Immanuel Baptist Church; and
Whereas, Dr. Hollingsworth is married to Gwen Hollingsworth, and together they have been blessed with a loving family of children and grandchildren; and
Whereas, the members of the South Carolina Senate greatly appreciate the passion and dedication that Dr. Hollingsworth has shown in serving the people and the State of South Carolina. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the Senate:
That the members of the South Carolina Senate, by this resolution, congratulate Dr. Gary Hollingsworth upon the occasion of his retirement from the South Carolina Baptist Convention, commend him for his seven years of dedicated service, and wish him much happiness and fulfillment in the years ahead.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Dr. Gary Hollingsworth.
