A HOUSE RESOLUTION

TO SALUTE THE EASTSIDE HIGH SCHOOL BOYS SWIM TEAM ON CAPTURING THE 2020 CLASS AAAA STATE SWIM CHAMPIONSHIP AND TO HONOR THE SWIMMERS AND THEIR COACH ON A SENSATIONAL SEASON.

Whereas, on Monday, October 12, 2020, the Eastside High School boys swim team rode the Eagles' tidal wave of powerful performances to the Class AAAA state swim crown, outswimming Hilton Head 489.5-351 to win Eastside's sixth straight state title for the boys team; and

Whereas, swimming is a competitive sport that requires individual talent, teamwork, discipline, and good sportsmanship, all qualities embodied by the Eastside High School boys swim team; and

Whereas, swimming against the best competition in the State, these superb young athletes took the title and brought home to Eastside individual and relay All-State accolades; and

Whereas, the individual Eastside swimmers achieving All-State honors were Devin Council, who finished third in both the 200 free and the 500 free, and Nils Bognar, who finished second in the 100 back and third in the 100 free and who also broke his school's record for the 100 free with a 47.80; and

Whereas, the Eastside relay teams named All-State were the 200 medley relay (Joey Lilley, Nils Bognar, Carson Mozingo, and McLain Brown) and the 400 free relay (Devin Council, Joey Lilley, Carson Mozingo, and Nils Bognar); and

Whereas, Coach Tiffany Watson guided these championship-caliber boys all season long by pushing them to strive for excellence and encouraging them daily so that they were prepared to swim their best; and

Whereas, the House takes great pleasure in recognizing and congratulating this magnificent group of talented young men on their outstanding achievements in the state championship competition, and the members look for the team's continued great accomplishments in the days ahead. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, salute the Eastside High School boys swim team on capturing the 2020 Class AAAA State Swim Championship and honor the swimmers and their coach on a sensational season.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Coach Tiffany Watson and Principal Tina Bishop of Eastside High School.
