TO AMEND THE CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, BY ADDING SECTION 56-1-88 SO AS TO PROVIDE UPON THE REQUEST OF A PERSON, THE DEPARTMENT OF MOTOR VEHICLES MUST ISSUE A REAL ID COMPLIANT DRIVER'S LICENSE THAT CONTAINS THE PERSON'S NAME AS IT APPEARS ON HIS CURRENT DRIVER'S LICENSE.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:
SECTION 1. Article 1, Chapter 1, Title 56 of the 1976 Code is amended by adding:
"Section 56-1-88. Notwithstanding another provision of law, upon the request of a person, the Department of Motor Vehicles must issue a Real ID compliant driver's license that contains the person's name as it appears on his current driver's license."
SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
