A house RESOLUTION
TO RECOGNIZE AND HONOR THE SOCASTEE HIGH SCHOOL GIRLS TENNIS TEAM, COACHES, AND SCHOOL OFFICIALS FOR AN OUTSTANDING SEASON AND TO CONGRATULATE THEM FOR WINNING THE 2022 SOUTH CAROLINA CLASS AAAAA STATE CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE.
Whereas, the South Carolina House of Representatives is pleased to learn that the members of the Socastee High School tennis team of Horry County captured the state title at the state tournament held at the Dr. Eddie Floyd Tennis Center in Florence on Saturday, November 5, 2022; and
Whereas, the Socastee Lady Braves delighted their faithful fans by decisively defeating JL Mann High School 6-0, the second title for the Socastee girls' program, the other having been won in 2020; and
Whereas, the Tuesday before the state tournament, the Lady Braves advanced to the championship with a hard-fought 4-3 win over Carolina Forest High School in the Class AAAAA Lower State Championship; and
Whereas, in the state tournament, winners of singles were Brooke Rogers, Wae Man Chan, Cassidy Cocca, Isabel Solazzo, and Laurel Case. Doubles winners were Ryleigh-Caroline Williams and Delanie Williams. All of them won 2-0; and
Whereas, in a sport that exacts strength, speed, and agility, Coach Jason Williams and Coach Michelle Money capitalized on their own athletic experience and training to forge a championship-caliber team and teach these athletes life principles that will endure beyond the courts; and
Whereas, the South Carolina House of Representatives values the pride and recognition that the Socastee tennis players have brought to their school and their community, and the members look forward to following their continued achievements in the days ahead. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:
That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, recognize and honor the Socastee High School girls tennis team, coaches, and school officials for an extraordinary season and congratulate them for winning the 2022 South Carolina Class AAAAA State Championship title.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Principal Jeremy Rich and Coach Jason Williams.
