A concurrent RESOLUTION

 

TO CONGRATULATE Congregation Beth Israel UPON THE OCCASION OF ITS one hundred tenth ANNIVERSARY AND TO COMMEND the synagogue FOR ITS MANY YEARS OF DEDICATED SERVICE TO THE greenville COMMUNITY AND THE PEOPLE AND THE STATE OF SOUTH CAROLINA.

 

Whereas, the members of the South Carolina General Assembly are pleased to recognize Congregation Beth Israel as it celebrates this important milestone; and

 

Whereas, Congregation Beth Israel, a conservative synagogue that serves the Greenville Jewish community, was founded in 1916 and will celebrate their one hundred tenth anniversary on June 17, 2026. The congregation celebrates their Judaism with inviting, vibrant, and inclusive programs and services; and

 

Whereas, the congregation is dedicated to the principles of Conservative Judaism and to the concept of K'lal Yisrael- the togetherness of the People Israel. They strive to meld Jewish Tradition and modern life and innovation with the ancient wisdom and practice of their ancestors; and

 

Whereas, Congregation Beth Israel strives to provide for their congregational family at every stage of the Jewish life cycle, from baby naming to religious school and b'nai mitzvah training, through interactive services and adult education programming; and

 

Whereas, the congregation embraces the idea of meeting people "where they are," offering a safe and encouraging environment regardless of age, gender, socio-economic status, race, level of education, family structure, interfaith union, or sexual identification and orientation. All who seek are invited to find their voice in prayer and thankfulness for the blessings of life; and

 

Whereas, the members of the South Carolina General Assembly greatly appreciate the dedication and commitment of Congregation Beth Israel to serving the people and the State of South Carolina.  Now, therefore,

 

Be it resolved by the Senate, the House of Representatives concurring:

 

That the members of the South Carolina General Assembly, by this resolution, congratulate Congregation Beth Israel upon the occasion of its one hundred tenth anniversary and commend the congregation for its many years of dedicated service to the Greenville community and the people and the State of South Carolina.

 

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Rabbi Sharon Cohen.
