A house RESOLUTION

TO CELEBRATE GOSPEL RECORDING ARTIST K. JEANETTE OF DARLINGTON, TO CONGRATULATE HER ON THE RECENT RELEASE OF HER NEW SINGLE, "SHINE," AND TO EXTEND BEST WISHES FOR CONTINUED SUCCESS IN THE DAYS TO COME.

Whereas, the South Carolina House of Representatives is pleased to learn that gospel recording artist K. Jeanette recently released her new single, "Shine," on November 1, 2024, and that since its release it has been on the charts consistently. Still rising, "Shine" has broken the Billboard Top 150 charts for three consecutive months (currently at #117) and the Mediabase Top 100 for twelve consecutive weeks (currently at #70); and

Whereas, K. Jeanette's foray into music performance began during her early years. She grew up in a small church, Darlington's New Providence United Methodist, where she sang from the age of 5. There, the teenaged K. Jeanette also played the piano alongside her Aunt Willie Mae Jordan, directed the children's/youth choir, and sang in the Voices of New Providence Young Adult Choir for many years; and

Whereas, after having long dreamed of writing music and singing professionally, K. Jeanette began living that dream in 2018 when God gave her husband, Marvin Cooper, a vision for making her dream come true. Marvin formed a plan and, with the help of Devine Records and others, enabled K. Jeanette to minister with her first single, "The Wait is Over," at the Sword of Truth in Bennettsville. Since then, God has been opening doors for her, and her daily prayer is "God, keep me humble"; and

Whereas, her new single, "Shine," is very dear to K. Jeanette's heart. A song her mother loved to sing, it describes the love and strength of the relationship she has with Christ. "Shine" is K. Jeanette's testimony of faith and determination, shining bright for the world to see and keeping her strong even through the dark time when she lost her mom; and

Whereas, K. Jeanette finds faithful support in her family: her husband, Marvin; their delightful children, Tamara, Tierra, Treyvon, and Tristan; and their charming grandchildren, T.J. and Malani, who fondly call their grandmother "GiGi"; and

Whereas, the House of Representatives takes great pleasure in applauding K. Jeanette on the occasion of the recent release of her new single, "Shine," and the members look with interest to hear of her further accomplishments as a recording artist. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, celebrate gospel recording artist K. Jeanette of Darlington, congratulate her on the recent release of her new single, "Shine," and extend best wishes for continued success in the days to come.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to K. Jeanette.
