A house RESOLUTION

 

TO RECOGNIZE AND HONOR ABIGAIL MINIHAN AS SHE LEAVES HER SERVICE AS A LAW CLERK IN THE SOUTH CAROLINA HOUSE ETHICS COMMITTEE, TO CONGRATULATE HER ON HER UPCOMING GRADUATION FROM THE University of South Carolina JOSEPH F. RICE SCHOOL OF LAW, AND TO WISH HER THE BEST IN THE DAYS AHEAD.

 

Whereas, the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives are pleased to learn that Abigail Minihan will graduate from the University of South Carolina Joseph F. Rice School of Law on May 10, 2025; and

 

Whereas, Abigail, the daughter of John and Faith Minihan, graduated from West Virginia University magna cum laude in 2021 with a bachelor's degree in environmental, soil, and water sciences; and

 

Whereas, since August 2023, she has worked for the House Ethics Committee as a law clerk. Abigail also has worked as a summer law clerk at the South Carolina Public Service Commission and as a law clerk for the National Wild Turkey Federation in Edgefield; and

 

Whereas, in her work as a law clerk for the House Ethics Committee, she has assisted with legal research and drafted memoranda for Ethics Committee members, including the committee's advisory opinions, aiding in the research of ethical issues, summarizing legislation, organizing and making more efficient the ability to research advisory opinions, and creating presentations. In her legal research, Abigail's shrewd legal mind anticipates both sides of a legal argument, and she thoroughly researches all the issues. An extremely diligent and dedicated law clerk, she ensures that all assignments are fully handled and scrutinized; and

 

Whereas, with her legal acumen, dedication to the law, and affable personality, Abigail has a bright legal career before her. She has accepted a job with the United States Army Corps of Engineers in South Korea upon graduation; and

 

Whereas, the South Carolina House of Representatives deeply appreciates the service that Abigail has rendered to the House Ethics Committee, and the members celebrate her successful completion of an outstanding academic career and wish her continued success and happiness in all her future endeavors.

Now, therefore,

 

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

 

That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, recognize and honor Abigail Minihan as she leaves her service as a law clerk in the South Carolina House Ethics Committee, congratulate her on her upcoming graduation from the University of South Carolina Joseph F. Rice School of Law, and wish her the best in the days ahead.

 

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Abigail Minihan.
