A house RESOLUTION

 

TO CONGRATULATE DAVIS WASH, MISS SOUTH CAROLINA 2024, AND TO COMMEND THE EXCEPTIONAL DISCIPLINE, ASPIRATIONS, AND TALENT THAT HAVE ENABLED HER TO REPRESENT THE PALMETTO STATE WITH DIGNITY AND POISE.

 

Whereas, the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives are pleased to learn that Davis Wash of Edgefield was named Miss South Carolina 2024 on Saturday, June 29, 2024, and is serving as a significant ambassador for the Palmetto State during her reign; and

 

Whereas, possessing both talent and intelligence, the twenty-four-year-old beauty competed as Miss Clemson and was crowned Miss South Carolina in the finals of the competition, held at the historic Township Auditorium in Columbia; and

 

Whereas, during the Miss South Carolina Pageant, Davis Wash sang "Ain't No Sunshine" by Bill Withers as her talent and earned Top 3 preliminary wins in the Miss Talent, Evening Gown, and Fitness categories; and

 

Whereas, grateful for the opportunity her title is giving her to advocate as The Silent Victims: Guiding and Empowering Youth of Incarcerated Parents, Miss Wash serves with resilience, love, and unwavering determination; and

 

Whereas, she has earned over eighty-five thousand dollars in scholarships through the Miss South Carolina Scholarship Organization for her placement in the competition, her community service, and her dedication to her platform; and

 

Whereas, in January 2025, Miss Wash traveled to Orlando, Florida, to compete in the Miss America competition, where she placed in the Top 11. She also won the pageant's Health & Fitness Preliminary Award; and

 

Whereas, this Clemson University graduate earned a degree in communications with a minor in political science while studying at that respected institution; and

 

Whereas, during her reign as Miss South Carolina, she has provided a gracious and graceful role model that represents the combined qualities of intellect, talent, loveliness, and charm admired by all who know her; and

 

Whereas, the South Carolina House of Representatives takes great pleasure in recognizing such an outstanding young woman and representative of this great State as Davis Wash, and the members wish her well as she continues her reign and pursues her dreams in the years to come. Now, therefore,

 

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

 

That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, congratulate Davis Wash, Miss South Carolina 2024, and commend the exceptional discipline, aspirations, and talent that have enabled her to represent the Palmetto State with dignity and poise.

 

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Davis Wash.
