A house RESOLUTION

 

to commend and express sincere gratitude to the exemplary student interns who have dedicated their time and talents to serving the state of south carolina through the university of south carolina department of political science's undergraduate internship program.

 

Whereas, the South Carolina House of Representatives is pleased to recognize the exceptional student interns from the University of South Carolina Department of Political Science's undergraduate internship program, who have proven themselves invaluable in supporting the members and staff of the House, state executive agencies, and the Office of the Governor; and

 

Whereas, under the direction of Joshua Meyer-Gutbrod, Ph.D., the undergraduate internship program has now completed its fifth semester of service. During the 2024-2025 Academic Year, the program hosted eighty students in various internships, including twenty-seven in state executive agencies, fourteen in the House of Representatives, three in the Senate, ten with the City of Columbia, and three with Richland County. Additionally, the program includes students working with federal offices, law firms, and campaign organizations; and

 

Whereas, to participate in the program, students must commit to the completion of a 120-hour internship during the semester and attend a course on state government at the University of South Carolina. This years' participants include Gabriel Attar, Katelyn Bergman, Caleb Buford, Rinold Burkhart, William Burns, Thomas Costa, Christopher Counoupas, Madison Danforth, Allison DeHart, Alexandra Dillon, Elisabetta Galavotti, Ella Griffin, Maya Hacker, Brayden Hensley, Ian Herd, Hagan Hiott, Olivia Huggins, Tristan Johnson, Kelvin Lemon, Weston Lewis, Grace Parach, Lillian Paxton, Alexandra Rolf, Claire Smith, Ella Stroud, Michael Sweatt, Justin Terranova, Olivia Vess, Camryn Zere, Cade Cox, Caitlyn Birkner, Caroline Senter, Dylan Dunn, Emily Rabon, Ian McFarland, Idrissa Smith, Jack Jeffrey, Julia Gifford, Kasey Hall, Meadow Wessinger, Nailah Brown, Natalie Rabil, Trey Connell, and Zoe Scott; and

 

Whereas, many of the students who have worked in the legislature or with agencies have made significant contributions to the State of South Carolina, and several are considering future careers in public service; and

 

Whereas, grateful for the commitment and excellence of these student interns, the House takes great pride in acknowledging their service and wishes them continued success and fulfillment in their future endeavors. Now, therefore,

 

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

 

That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, commend and express sincere gratitude to the exemplary student interns who have dedicated their time and talents to serving the State of South Carolina through the University of South Carolina Department of Political Science's undergraduate internship program. 

 

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to the undergraduate internship program of the University of South Carolina Department of Political Science.
