VERSIONS OF THIS BILL
A house RESOLUTION
TO HONOR THE REVEREND DR. MARCELL D. BUSH, SENIOR PASTOR OF MAJORITY BAPTIST CHURCH IN SPARTANBURG, ON THE OCCASION OF HIS RECENT NINETEENTH ANNIVERSARY OF GOSPEL MINISTRY AT MAJORITY BAPTIST AND TO EXTEND TO HIM BEST WISHES FOR GOD'S RICHEST BLESSINGS AS HE CONTINUES TO SERVE THE LORD.
Whereas, it is entirely appropriate to honor those individuals who give tirelessly of themselves to nurture the souls of men. The Reverend Dr. Marcell D. Bush of Majority Baptist Church in Spartanburg stands among their number as an outstanding minister of the gospel, one much admired by colleagues, congregations, and area residents at large; and
Whereas, a native of Barnwell, the Reverend Dr. Marcell D. Bush came into this world on April 25, 1970, the third of four sons born to the Reverend Monroe Bush Jr. and Mrs. Rudean Bush; and
Whereas, the young Marcell was educated in the Barnwell County public school system and graduated from Barnwell Senior High School in 1988. He went on to attend Johnson C. Smith University in Charlotte, North Carolina, and graduated cum laude with a bachelor's degree in business management and a minor in economics; and
Whereas, after his college graduation, Dr. Bush accepted a position with the St. Paul Insurance Companies as a medical and liability claims adjuster in Washington, D.C., and then a second position with Wachovia National Bank (formerly First Union), where he was promoted to assistant vice president in the bank's Retail and Commercial Banking Divisions in Charlotte; and
Whereas, in 1997, Dr. Bush was licensed to preach the gospel. In further preparation for his ministry, in 2003 he graduated cum laude from Hood Theological Seminary in Salisbury, North Carolina, where he earned his Master of Divinity degree. Dr. Bush received his Doctor of Ministry degree from United Theological Seminary in Dayton, Ohio, in 2013; and
Whereas, for three and a half years, Dr. Bush served as the full-time minister of youth and Christian education at Charlotte's Mount Carmel Baptist Church. In 2006, he was called to the Majority Baptist Church in Spartanburg, where he currently serves as senior pastor; and
Whereas, Dr. Bush considers it one of the greatest triumphs of his life that he was able to persuade the lovely Anita Bush to become his bride. They are the proud parents of three delightful children, Morgan, Rori, and Chelsea; and
Whereas, because of his many years of spiritual nourishment of the people of South Carolina, Dr. Bush is due grateful thanks and best wishes as he continues to run the race the Lord has set before him. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:
That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, honor the Reverend Dr. Marcell D. Bush, senior pastor of Majority Baptist Church in Spartanburg, on the occasion of his recent nineteenth anniversary of gospel ministry at Majority Baptist and extend to him best wishes for God's richest blessings as he continues to serve the Lord.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to the Reverend Dr. Marcell D. Bush.
