A house RESOLUTION

 

TO RECOGNIZE AND HONOR BRIAN HUCKS, VARSITY HEAD BASEBALL COACH AT LEXINGTON HIGH SCHOOL, AND TO CONGRATULATE HIM UPON BEING INDUCTED INTO THE SOUTH CAROLINA BASEBALL COACHES ASSOCIATION HALL OF FAME, CLASS OF 2025.

 

Whereas, the South Carolina House of Representatives is pleased to learn that Coach Brian Hucks of Lexington High School was inducted into the South Carolina Baseball Coaches Association Hall of Fame on June 3, 2025; and

 

Whereas, in preparation for his career, Coach Hucks graduated from Lexington High School, where he excelled as an athlete. He gained his college baseball experience at the University of South Carolina (1993-1996), where he served as captain for two years and received the Irby Raines Award for Most Inspirational Player. He subsequently was drafted by the Cincinnati Reds; and

 

Whereas, he began his career as an educator and coach about thirty years ago, starting in the position of assistant coach at York High School (1997-1999) and then serving as head coach at Brookland-Cayce High School from 1999 to 2011. In 2011, Coach Hucks moved to his alma mater, Lexington High School, where he has taught and served as head baseball coach for fourteen years. In addition to his coaching duties, he has served as a physical education teacher and assistant athletic director over the years; and

 

Whereas, during the course of his career, Coach Hucks has proved his coaching gifts through a top-tier overall record of 541-219-2, including four state championships (2000, 2008, 2013, 2024). His excellence has brought him various awards, such as 3A Coach of the Year (2000, 2008), 4A Coach of the Year (2013), 5A Coach of the Year (2024, 2025), and Statewide Coach of the Year (2008, 2013, 2024); and

 

Whereas, together with Stephanie, his wife of twenty-six years, he has reared a fine family of two, Caroline and Jackson; and

 

Whereas, Coach Hucks is rightly celebrated for his dedication to developing young athletes, his tactical acumen, and his consistent ability to build winning programs, all of which make him a cornerstone figure and a legend in South Carolina high school baseball. With great pleasure, the members of the House salute Brian Hucks for the recognition he has brought to his school and community, and the members look forward to hearing of his continued achievements in the days ahead. Now, therefore,

 

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

 

That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, recognize and honor Brian Hucks, varsity head baseball coach at Lexington High school, and congratulate him upon being inducted into the South Carolina Baseball Coaches Association Hall of Fame, Class of 2025.

 

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Brian Hucks.
