A house RESOLUTION
To honor and recognize the Berkeley High School girls basketball team and coaches on a fantastic season and to congratulate them on winning their second consecutive South Carolina High School League AAAAA Division II State Championship title.
Whereas, the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives are pleased to learn that the Berkeley High School girls basketball team defended their title and won their second consecutive South Carolina High School League AAAAA Division II State Championship on March 5, 2026, in Columbia; and
Whereas, this back-to-back championship win marks the first time in Berkeley High School history that any sport has won two consecutive state titles; and
Whereas, with great skill and excellent teamwork, the Berkeley High School Lady Stags defeated the Greenville High School Lady Raiders 54-50. After being down 12-6 at the end of the first quarter, the Lady Stags were determined to turn the game around. They hustled and ended the first half ahead 21-19. The score continued to stay close throughout the remainder of the game, with Kennedy Caldwell and Amani McCray both scoring their free throw shots in the final moments of the game. With an outstanding performance, Alaina Carter led the team to victory with a 29-point game; and
Whereas, in a sport that requires precision and agility, Head Coach Crystal Peace and her talented coaching staff utilized their own experience and passion for the sport to mold a championship-caliber team. The lessons that they have taught these young athletes will continue to shape them on and off the court; and
Whereas, the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives value the pride and recognition that the Berkeley High School girls basketball team have brought to their school and community. The members look forward to hearing about their future accomplishments in the days to come. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:
That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, honor and recognize the Berkeley High School girls basketball team and coaches on a fantastic season and congratulate them on winning their second consecutive South Carolina High School League AAAAA Division II State Championship title.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Berkeley High School Principal Heather Ducker and Head Coach Crystal Peace.
