A house RESOLUTION
TO HONOR AND RECOGNIZE THE OCEANSIDE COLLEGIATE ACADEMY BOYS VOLLEYBALL TEAM, COACHES, AND SCHOOL OFFICIALS FOR AN EXTRAORDINARY SEASON AND TO CONGRATULATE THEM ON WINNING THE 2025 SOUTH CAROLINA HIGH SCHOOL LEAGUE CLASS AAAA BOYS VOLLEYBALL STATE CHAMPIONSHIP FOR THE SECOND CONSECUTIVE YEAR.
Whereas, the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives were pleased to hear that on Saturday, November 1, 2025, the Oceanside Collegiate Academy boys volleyball team won the 2025 South Carolina High School League Class AAAA State Championship title for the second consecutive year; and
Whereas, the Oceanside Collegiate Landsharks defeated the Travelers Rest Devil Dogs 3-1 in the championship match held at A.C. Flora High School; and
Whereas, the match was tied going into the third set, with the Devil Dogs winning the first set 25-22, and the Landsharks winning the second 25-16. The Landsharks were able to take the advantage near the end of the third and won the set 25-18. The match was on the line going into the fourth set, where they battled point-for-point until the end when the Landsharks scored four of the last five points, winning the set 25-21; and
Whereas, in a sport that demands strength and discipline, Head Coach Jorge Riesgo and his talented coaching staff utilized their own experience and passion for the sport to produce a championship-caliber team. Coach Riesgo and his team were dedicated to rebuilding after losing key players from last year's championship team. Their hard work paid off, as they dominated all season, ending with a 23-3 record. The lessons that this coaching staff have taught these young athletes this season will continue to shape them on and off the court; and
Whereas, the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives value the pride and recognition that the Oceanside Collegiate Academy boys volleyball team have brought to their school and community. The members look forward to hearing of their future achievements in the days to come. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:
That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, honor and recognize the Oceanside Collegiate Academy boys volleyball team, coaches, and school officials for an extraordinary season and congratulate them on winning the 2025 South Carolina High School League Class AAAA Boys Volleyball State Championship for the second consecutive year.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Oceanside Collegiate Academy Principal Kelly Linkenhoker and Head Coach Jorge Riesgo.
