VERSIONS OF THIS BILL
A house RESOLUTION
TO RECOGNIZE AND HONOR BELLE FOSTER, a freshman at Gray Collegiate Academy, FOR HER OUTSTANDING WORK AS MISS GRAY COLLEGIATE'S TEEN AND FOR HER INITIATIVE, AMERICAN HONEY: YOUR VOICE MATTERS.
Whereas, the South Carolina House of Representatives is pleased to learn that Belle Foster has been named Miss Gray Collegiate's Teen; and
Whereas, Belle Foster is the daughter of Krisdee Clark and Cantzon Foster, and she has one brother, Knox Foster, and several bonus siblings; and
Whereas, active in both academic and extracurricular activities at Gray Collegiate Academy, Belle holds a 5.2GPA and takes all honors courses. She is a member of the National Beta Club, Student Government, and Fellowship of Christian Athletes, and she serves as Miss Freshman and Miss Gray Collegiate's Teen, which means she will represent Gray and compete in Miss South Carolina's Teen this summer. She is part of the school's Spirit Squad and is a catcher and second baseman on the Gray Collegiate softball team; and
Whereas, Belle is meaningfully involved in her faith and attends Riverland Hills Baptist Church. She has written a teen faith-based daily devotional titled American Honey: Sweet, Strong, and Set Apart; and
Whereas, Belle has started an initiative, American Honey: Your Voice Matters. This podcast has grown into a broader show and movement aimed at encouraging teens to engage in civics before they are eligible to vote. Through this platform which Belle has had longer than her Gray Collegiate's Teen crown, she has been working to encourage teens across the nation to become engaged in government and civic leadership; and
Whereas, Belle started American Honey when she was only fourteen years old because of her mentor, Charlie Kirk, and at fifteen, she has already interviewed national leaders across the country, including in Washington, D. C., and at major events such as AmericaFest in Arizona. Her mission is to bridge the gap in civic education by encouraging students to listen, learn, and engage with leaders and issues so that they are informed and confident when they reach voting age; and
Whereas, having made a name for herself nationally as a podcast host, she has spoken on national stages sharing her faith and her love for engaging teens in politics. Her work emphasizes the importance of understanding government, asking questions, and using one's voice respectfully and effectively, regardless of political affiliation. She is passionate about ensuring that young people are not handed a ballot at the age of eighteen without the foundational knowledge to use their vote wisely; and
Whereas, her passion is helping young people understand that their voice matters now, not just later, and she has been actively using her platform to inspire confidence, leadership, and involvement in their communities; and
Whereas, the South Carolina House of Representatives looks forward to following her as she continues her journey toward Miss South Carolina's Teen, and the members celebrate her work to highlight the importance of youth civic engagement across the Palmetto State. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:
That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, recognize and honor Belle Foster, a freshman at Gray Collegiate Academy, for her outstanding work as Miss Gray Collegiate's Teen and for her initiative, American Honey: Your Voice Matters.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Belle Foster.
