A house RESOLUTION

TO EXPRESS THE PROFOUND SORROW OF THE MEMBERS OF THE SOUTH CAROLINA HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES UPON THE PASSING OF ROBERT AUBREY "ROB" BAGGETT JR. OF ROEBUCK AND TO EXTEND THE DEEPEST SYMPATHY TO HIS FAMILY AND MANY FRIENDS.

Whereas, the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives were deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Robert Aubrey "Rob" Baggett Jr. of Roebuck at the venerable age of seventy-four on March 28, 2026; and

Whereas, born in Memphis, Tennessee, to Robert and Billie Porter Baggett on September 28, 1951, Rob Baggett was raised in Tupelo, Mississippi. Having graduated from Tupelo High School in 1969, Rob earned his Bachelor of Arts in music from Mississippi College in 1973 and his master's in church music from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary; and

Whereas, Rob worked at Kentucky Educational TV as an animator, and, continuing to advance his education, received an Educational Specialist degree from the University of South Carolina in 1993. He became a licensed counselor in 1994 and then began his work as a guidance counselor. Rob served as guidance counselor with Summit Parkway and Blythewood Middle School until his retirement in 2014; and

Whereas, this committed Christian truly loved his Lord and served in various church positions, including as Sunday school teacher, deacon, choir member, and counselor. Rob further served as part-time minister of music at Greenlawn Baptist Church for fourteen years before moving to Roebuck in October 2020; and

Whereas, however, his greatest ministry and most meaningful work was always time spent with his family. Rob was a faithfully devoted husband, father, and grandfather with a self-sacrificial heart full of love. He would often say that others may have surpassed him in wealth but that he felt so rich to be able to live close by his family and nurture the most important relationships in his life; and

Whereas, a man with a great love of the outdoors and one who enjoyed sharing that love, Rob spent his free time hiking and horseback riding with his family; and

Whereas, Rob Baggett leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife, Teresa Nesmith Baggett; his children, Bryan Robert Baggett (Jessica) of Mauldin and Emily B. O'Sullivan (Cameron) of Roebuck; his grandchildren, Marley Gifford, Mary Cameron O'Sullivan, and Anna Kate O'Sullivan; his siblings, Rick Baggett (Leisa) of Pontotoc, Mississippi, and Nancy Ryan Boehmer (Dave) of Cleveland, Tennessee; and a host of other family members and friends. He will be greatly missed. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, express their profound sorrow upon the passing of Robert Aubrey "Rob" Baggett Jr. of Roebuck and extend the deepest sympathy to his family and many friends.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to the family.
