A house RESOLUTION

to recognize and honor Psi Zeta Phi Military Sorority Inc. for the organization's high standards of professionalism, integrity, and dedication in providing hope, faith, and encouragement for women across all branches of military service, including active duty, retired, and veterans.

Whereas, Psi Zeta Phi (PZP) Military Sorority Inc. was established in 2019 by Joy C. McClendon, a proud United States Army veteran, with a clear vision to create a sisterhood rooted in service, leadership, and support for women serving in or connected to the United States Armed Forces; and

Whereas, the mission of PZP is to establish a lifelong bond of friendship and sisterhood among its members while promoting strong values, social awareness, and service by supporting women connected with military service and who are impacting their communities; and

Whereas, PZP began under the leadership of Dean Rovenia Jenkins, along with five strong and dedicated women veterans, whose commitment set the standard for sisterhood, service, and excellence and laid the groundwork for future generations; and

Whereas, recognizing the unique experiences and challenges faced by women in the military and veteran communities, PZP was established to provide a safe and empowering space where women could connect and grow, while promoting personal and professional development; and

Whereas, committed to continuous growth, PZP Sorors seek and share knowledge and create meaningful opportunities to uplift and empower those they serve. PZP's legacy began with the National Alpha Line, established in February 2020. As the organization has grown, PZP has crossed nineteen National Lines, each line strengthening the organization's impact nationwide; and

Whereas, guided by its motto, "Only the Strong Survives," the sorority embodies resilience, strength, and perseverance. Through community outreach initiatives, veteran support programs, and strategic partnerships, including collaborations with organizations, such as the Range Fore Hope Foundation, PZP has a meaningful impact on veterans, their families, and communities across the nation; and

Whereas, Psi Zeta Phi Military Sorority Inc.'s youth scholarship program, The Dr. Tammy M. Finney Award, was established in 2020 and is awarded annually to support the next generation of leaders by providing financial assistance to deserving high school and home-schooled youth connected to military families and underserved communities. Recipients must exhibit strong character, a commitment to community service, and the determination to succeed despite challenges; and

Whereas, since its launch, The Dr. Tammy M. Finney Award has been given to eight students, all who embody the values of resilience, integrity, and service and reflect the sorority's motto, "Only the Strong Survives." The award is a testament to the sorority's commitment to create change through educational opportunities; and

Whereas, the members of the House of Representatives value the work of Psi Zeta Phi Military Sorority Inc. to provide a community to support women connected with the Armed Forces where they can experience a sisterhood rooted in service, leadership, and professionalism. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, recognize and honor Psi Zeta Phi Military Sorority Inc. for the organization's high standards of professionalism, integrity, and dedication in providing hope, faith, and encouragement for women across all branches of military service, including active duty, retired, and veterans.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Joy C. McClendon, president and founder of Psi Zeta Phi Military Sorority Inc.
