A house RESOLUTION
TO RECOGNIZE AND CONGRATULATE ANNA WILDER, FORMERLY WITH THE POST AND COURIER, ON HER NEW BERTH AS A POLITICAL REPORTER FOR THE ASSOCIATED PRESS.
Whereas, for three years, Anna Wilder served as a political and State House reporter in South Carolina with The Post and Courier. During her time covering the State House, including a year and a half at The State newspaper, she chronicled the state's most contentious policy fights in a wide range of topics from criminal justice legislation to hemp-THC bills and abortion laws, documenting both the legislative maneuvering and the people most affected; and
Whereas, a Florida native, she graduated from the University of Florida, where she served as managing editor of The Independent Florida Alligator, the university's student newspaper. Her work has appeared in outlets such as Politico, The Miami Herald, and ProPublica; and
Whereas, recently, Ms. Wilder joined the Associated Press as a political reporter covering voting, elections, and redistricting through Report for America in Texas, a state that plays a major role in the nation's politics. More particularly, Ms. Wilder will cover the impact of the changes to redrawn congressional maps, as well as elections, voting rights, restrictions, registration, and access, telling these stories originating at the state and local level for national and global audiences in a competitive way; and
Whereas, the House of Representatives is grateful for Anna Wilder's years of service in the Palmetto State and is pleased that she enjoyed her time in South Carolina. The members extend best wishes to this respected journalist for much continued success as she takes up new duties and challenges in the Lone Star State as a political reporter for the Associated Press. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:
That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, recognize and congratulate Anna Wilder, formerly with The Post and Courier, on her new berth as a political reporter for the Associated Press.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Anna Wilder.
