A house RESOLUTION

To remember and celebrate the life of Jack J. Parrish Jr. and to extend the deepest sympathy to his large and loving family and his many friends.

Whereas, the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives were deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Jack J. Parrish Jr. at the age of eighty-one on August 8, 2026; and

Whereas, born in Bamberg on September 10, 1944, to Jack J. Parrish Sr. and Carrie Starr Free Parrish, Jack J. Parrish Jr. was reared with strong values and work ethic; and

Whereas, after completing his studies, Mr. Parrish joined the United States Army to dutifully serve his country. During his time in service to the military, he was stationed in the Panama Canal, where he gained a profound sense of discipline and commitment; and

Whereas, after returning home, he built a meaningful career as an electrician with South Carolina Electric and Gas. He was known for his skill, reliability, and steadfast work for over twenty-two years, until retiring due to disability; and

Whereas, he then moved to Scaly Mountain in North Carolina, embracing the leisurely, unhurried pace of retirement, immersing himself in the beauty of the mountains. There he enjoyed the simplicity of rural living, farming and tending to his beloved donkeys; and

Whereas, Mr. Parrish was the proud father of four children, Jacob Parrish, Justin Parrish, Jim Parrish, and Jennifer Robinson. He was also the cherished grandfather to eleven beloved grandchildren, and great-grandfather to two precious great-grandchildren; and

Whereas, the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives are grateful for the life and legacy of Jack J. Parrish Jr. and for the example of sacrifice, service, and kindness he set for all who knew him. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, remember and celebrate the life of Jack J. Parrish Jr. and extend the deepest sympathy to his large and loving family and his many friends.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Jack J. Parrish Jr.
