A senate RESOLUTION

 

TO CONGRATULATE SCOUTING AMERICA TROOP 303 UPON THE OCCASION OF ITS SEVENTY-FIFTH ANNIVERSARY AND TO COMMEND SCOUTING AMERICA TROOP 303 FOR ITS MANY YEARS OF DEDICATED ENGAGEMENT IN THE KERSHAW COUNTY COMMUNITY.

 

Whereas, the members of the South Carolina Senate are pleased to recognize Scouting America Troop 303 of Camden as it celebrates this important milestone; and

 

Whereas, Scouting America provides the nation's foremost youth program of character development and values-based leadership training, which helps young people be "Prepared. For Life." The mission of Scouting America is to prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Scout Law; and

 

Whereas, Scouting America Troop 303 has been in continuous operation since its original charter in February 1950, providing leadership development, training in skills and abilities, and valuable character-building opportunities to thousands of Scouts; and

 

Whereas, Scouting is an individualized program of goal setting and achievement where Scouts experience democracy in action through peer leadership; and

 

Whereas, in the Scouting program, young people learn the basics of citizenship, first aid, physical fitness, outdoor skills plus over one hundred other career or hobby-related topics through the merit badge program; and

 

Whereas, the Scouting program is delivered through charter organizations that operate Scouting units to deliver the programs to their youth as well as the community at large. These organizations are run by adult volunteers who are dedicated to helping young people learn and grow; and

 

Whereas, volunteers have always been the bedrock of the Scouting program. Behind every trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, and kind Scout is a long line of committed volunteers who share those same traits; and

 

Whereas, Lyttleton Street United Methodist Church in Camden has faithfully discharged its duties as a charter organization, providing countless hours of dedicated support, time, facilities, and resources to enable Scouts and parents of Troop 303 to achieve their personal goals; and

 

Whereas, the members of the South Carolina Senate greatly appreciate the dedication and commitment of Scouting America Troop 303 to serving the people and the State of South Carolina.  Now, therefore,

 

Be it resolved by the Senate:

 

That the members of the South Carolina Senate, by this resolution, congratulate Scouting America Troop 303 upon the occasion of its seventy-fifth anniversary and commend Scouting America Troop 303 for its many years of engagement in the Kershaw County community.

 

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Scouting America Troop 303.
