A senate RESOLUTION
TO RECOGNIZE AND HONOR gospel music star jason crabb for his outstanding professional accomplishments and his example of faith.
Whereas, the members of the South Carolina Senate are pleased to recognize Jason Crabb for his outstanding musical career; and
Whereas, a native of Beaver Dam, Kentucky, Mr. Crabb was born on March 3, 1977, to parents Gerald and Terri Crabb; and
Whereas, Mr. Crabb began his career performing with his family, dad Gerald and stepmom Kathy and siblings Adam, Aaron, Kelly, and Terah. The family went on to become one of the most beloved Southern Gospel groups of all times with sixteen number-one hits, eleven Dove Awards, and three Grammy nods. The Crabb Family retired in 2007, with Mr. Crabb on lead; and
Whereas, Mr. Crabb signed a solo deal in 2009 and his first album started his path to crossing over from just Southern Gospel to country and contemporary Christian music; and
Whereas, with an illustrious career, Mr. Crabb has won a Grammy and twenty-one Dove Awards. He was named the Gospel Music Association's Dove Awards Artist and Male Vocalist of the Year and earned the Song of the Year award; and
Whereas, Mr. Crabb has performed at many of the world's most prestigious stages, including Carnegie Hall, the Grand Ole Opry, the Brooklyn Tabernacle, and Billy Graham's final crusade in New York City. He has also shared the stage with artists including Gloria Gaynor, Kari Jobe, Vince Gill, Mary Mary's Erica Campbell, Donnie McClurkin, Wynonna, Brad Paisley, Blake Shelton, Michael W. Smith, Jamie Grace, Sandi Patty, the Oak Ridge Boys. He has appeared on NBC's "Celebrity Apprentice" and alongside Duck Dynasty's Willie Robertson; and
Whereas, Mr. Crabb has been featured by many media outlets, including People Magazine, Fox News, Country Living, The Huffington Post, Billboard, USA Today, Entertainment Tonight, and Country Weekly. He was named one of Nashville's Most Beautiful People by Nashville Lifestyles Magazine. He is also frequently seen on television hosting on TBN and appearing on awards shows and television specials for a variety of networks; and
Whereas, Mr. Crabb has opened and performed twice at Carolina Cup in Camden. He has performed hundreds of concerts in South Carolina, including many events for charity; and
Whereas, Mr. Crabb's hometown of Beaver Dam, Kentucky named the road adjacent to a new amphitheater after him; and
Whereas, Whatever the Road, Mr. Crabb's 2015 release, was nominated for a Grammy for Best Contemporary Christian Album. His album Unexpected released on April 20, 2018; and
Whereas, the charitable and humanitarian causes that he actively supports include ChildFund, World Vision, Compassion International, Feed the Children, Bridge Homeless Ministry, Second Harvest, Live Beyond Haiti, and One Child Matters. He is also an outspoken advocate for those with Down syndrome; and
Whereas, Mr. Crabb married his wife, Shellye, on May 12, 1998, and together they have two daughters, Ashleigh Taylor and Emmaleigh Love; and
Whereas, the members of the South Carolina Senate greatly appreciate the dedication and commitment that Jason Crabb has shown in his contributions to music and his walk of faith. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the Senate:
That the members of the South Carolina Senate, by this resolution, recognize and honor gospel music star Jason Crabb for his outstanding professional accomplishments and his example of faith.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Jason Crabb.
