A senate RESOLUTION

 

TO CONGRATULATE Dr. Thomas Oliver Young UPON THE OCCASION OF HIS RETIREMENT, TO COMMEND HIM FOR HIS Forty-Five YEARS OF DEDICATED SERVICE, AND TO WISH HIM MUCH HAPPINESS AND FULFILLMENT IN THE YEARS AHEAD.

 

Whereas, the members of the South Carolina Senate are pleased to recognize Dr. Thomas Oliver Young upon the occasion of his retirement from practicing medicine on September 26, 2025; and

 

Whereas, Dr. Young began his career in medicine as a general surgeon during his medical school residency. After graduating in 1981, he continued to practice general surgery for fifty years. During his long and storied career, he also worked in trauma surgery for fifteen years and became attending general surgeon. For the last two and a half years leading to his retirement, Dr. Young specialized in wound care and general surgery; and

 

Whereas, Dr. Young used his medical talents to serve with many community organizations. He has been an active volunteer in the Taylors Free Medical Clinic since 2010, and he completed various medical missions with Time Global over the course of fifteen years; and

 

Whereas, the members of the South Carolina Senate appreciate the passion and dedication that Dr. Young has shown in serving the people and the State of South Carolina.  Now, therefore,

 

Be it resolved by the Senate:

 

That the members of the South Carolina Senate, by this resolution, congratulate Dr. Thomas Oliver Young upon the occasion of his retirement, commend him for his forty-five years of dedicated service, and wish him much happiness and fulfillment in the years ahead.

 

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Dr. Thomas Oliver Young.
