To whom was referred a Concurrent Resolution (S. 943) to request that the Department of Transportation name the Section of Highway 151 in front of the Sherrif's office in Darlington County the "Deputy Frank Devin Mason, etc., respectfully

A concurrent RESOLUTION

 

TO REQUEST THAT THE DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION NAME the Section of Highway 151 in front of the Sherrif's Office IN Darlington COUNTY The "Deputy Frank Devin Mason Memorial Highway" AND ERECT APPROPRIATE MARKERS OR SIGNS AT THIS LOCATION CONTAINING THE DESIGNATION.

 

Whereas, Deputy Frank Devin Mason, who dutifully served as a law enforcement officer for the Darlington County Sherrif's Office, died in the line of duty on July 1, 2025, at the age of twenty-seven; and

 

Whereas, a native of Whiteville, North Carolina, Deputy Mason was born on December 31,1997. He began his career with the Darlington County Sherrif's Office in 2024 and graduated from the South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy on March 28, 2025. During his short tenure, he demonstrated unwavering dedication, integrity, and professionalism; and

 

Whereas, Deputy Mason dedicated his life to protecting and serving the State of South Carolina; and

 

Whereas, Deputy Mason is proceeded in death by his father, Frank Mason; grandmother, Nell Stegall; grandfather, Charles (Bubba) Stegall; cousin, Tara Stegall; uncle, Jack Stegall; and niece, Katherine Bellamy; and

 

Whereas, he leaves behind to cherish his memory his fiancé, Madi Palmer Church; their son, Brooks James Mason; his mother, Shannon Stegall Dudney (John); sisters, Brandie Bellamy (Lendorian), Amber Mason (Que), and Crystal Mason (Tralique); aunts, Teresa Stegall and Cherry Stegall (Ira); uncle, Stephen Stegall (Courtney); nieces and nephews, Nicole, Ti'Lyn, Billy, and Kannon; and cousins, Avery, Ciara, Kassie, Dakota, and Zackery. He will be greatly missed; and

 

Whereas, it would be only fitting and proper to pay tribute to this son of South Carolina by naming a portion of road in the State in his honor.  Now, therefore,


 

Be it resolved by the Senate, the House of Representatives concurring:

 

That the members of the South Carolina General Assembly, by this resolution, request that the Department of Transportation name the section of Highway 151 in front of the Sherrif's office in Darlington County the "Deputy Frank Devin Mason Memorial Highway" and erect appropriate markers or signs at this location containing the designation.

 

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the Department of Transportation and presented to the family of Deputy Frank Devin Mason.
