A senate RESOLUTION

 

TO HONOR THE C.A. JOHNSON HIGH SCHOOL BOYS BASKETBALL TEAM AND COACHES ON THEIR IMPRESSIVE WIN OF THE 2026 CLASS A STATE CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE AND TO SALUTE THEM ON A remarkable SEASON.

 

Whereas, the South Carolina Senate is proud to recognize the C.A. Johnson High School boys basketball team for winning the Class A State Championship Saturday, March 7, 2026 when they defeated Bethune Bowman High School 72-64 in a commanding victory; and

 

Whereas, Colonial Life Arena's proximity to C.A. Johnson High School proved a tremendous advantage for the Hornets and its fan base leading to the teams first state championship in more than a decade, its third title in program history; and

 

Whereas, Coach Robert McCray has built a culture of excellence reflected by this most momentous achievement; and

 

Whereas, while it was a team effort, Aissacc Germany and Javarius Wyche each scored 24 points to lead the Hornets. Class A player of the year Milton McCray added 14 points; and

 

Whereas, the members of the C.A. Johnson boys basketball team have given their school and community reason to be proud of their accomplishments, and the Senate takes great pleasure in adding its collective voice to the numerous accolades flowing in to this outstanding group of young athletes. Go, Green Hornets! Now, therefore,

 

Be it resolved by the Senate:

 

That the members of the South Carolina Senate, by this resolution, honor the C.A. Johnson High School boys basketball team and coaches on their impressive win of the 2026 Class A State Championship title and salute them on a fine season.

 

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Dr. Brenton Coe, principal, and Head Coach Robert McCray of C.A. Johnson High School.
