A senate RESOLUTION
TO CONGRATULATE THE YORK COMPREHENSIVE HIGH SCHOOL MALE AND FEMALE STRENGTH teams, COACHES, AND SCHOOL OFFICIALS ON AN OUTSTANDING SEASON AND TO HONOR THEM FOR WINNING THE 2025-2026 SOUTH CAROLINA CLASS AAAA STATE CHAMPIONSHIPs.
Whereas, the South Carolina Senate is proud to recognize the York Comprehensive High School male and female strength teams for winning the state titles from the women's state meet held on November 8, 2025, and the men's state meet held on March 24, 2026; and
Whereas, to the cheers of their exuberant fans, the York Comprehensive High School team defeated competitive comers from around the State to win their respective state trophies; and
Whereas, competing in their respective weight classes, athletes are given scores based on their performance in three events: back squat, bench press, and standing broad jump. At the conclusion of each meet, the athletes are ranked by their performance, and the athlete with the best scores is crowned state champion. Athletes placing in the top six also contribute points to their team's final score; and
Whereas, York Comprehensive High School took thirty female athletes and fourteen male athletes to compete at the two state meets. At the women's state meet, York Comprehensive set a record with nine All-State athletes, two state champions and twelve All-State finishers. At the men's state meet, York had one state champion and three All-State finishers; and
Whereas, York's individual state female champions were Alyvia "AC" Lingerfelt in the 140-pound class and Lindsey Morrison in the 150-pound class; and
Whereas, York's All-State female athletes included Ariel Matheson in the 110-pound class, Kynleigh Liming in the 110-pound class, Dani Hagen in the 130-pound class, Ravynn Washington in the 130-pound class, Natalie Dover in the 140-pound class, Briley Comer in the 160-pound class, and Caroline Clark in the 170-pound class; and
Whereas, York's male strength athletes also made their mark. Eli Clinton in the 190-pound class was named an individual state champion and made a state record with a 10-foot 5.5-inch broad jump, 570-pound back squat, and 915-pound total. J. J. Hagen in the 140-pound class, Collin Lowry in the 140-pound class, and Tyreese French in the Unlimited class were named All State Athletes; and
Whereas, the York Comprehensive High School male and female strength teams have flourished under the leadership and guidance of Head Coach Jason Layman and his skilled coaching staff, Danelle Hagen, Nathan Green, Dean Boyd, and Ryanne Mitchell; and
Whereas, the members of the South Carolina Senate appreciate the pride and recognition that the York Comprehensive High School male and female strength teams have brought to their school and community and look forward to a future filled with further accomplishments by the teams and their talented athletes. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the Senate:
That the members of the South Carolina Senate, by this resolution, congratulate the York Comprehensive High School male and female strength teams, coaches, and school officials on an outstanding season and honor them for winning the 2025-2026 South Carolina class AAAA state championships.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to the York Comprehensive High School male and female strength teams, Coach Jason Layman, and Principal Jenna Markey.
