A senate RESOLUTION

 

TO CONGRATULATE THE CHAPIN HIGH SCHOOL GIRLS VARSITY DANCE TEAM, COACHES, Program, AND SCHOOL OFFICIALS ON AN OUTSTANDING 2025-2026 SEASON AND TO HONOR their CONTINUED LEGACY of Excellence.

 

Whereas, the Chapin girls dance program, established in 2009 within Lexington-Richland School District Five, has grown into a premier competitive organization comprised of varsity, junior varsity, and middle school teams demonstrating a sustained commitment to excellence through discipline, academic achievement, and community service; and

 

Whereas, the program has built a distinguished legacy of champions, earning widespread recognition for its dedication, sportsmanship, and high performance at both the state and national levels; and

 

Whereas, during the extraordinary 2025-2026 competitive season, the program achieved unprecedented success, securing multiple state championship titles at the South Carolina Dance Association state championship in February 2026; and

 

Whereas, the Chapin varsity dance team earned state championship titles in pom, marking their fifth consecutive state championship in the category. The team also secured state championship titles in lyrical and jazz, and the team achieved the highest overall varsity score in jazz; and

 

Whereas, the Chapin varsity dance team further distinguished itself on the national stage by earning the title of 2026 National Champions in hip hop at the Contest of Champions in March 2026; and

 

Whereas, the Chapin girls dance program also celebrated additional state championship titles during the 2025-2026 season, including junior varsity pom and middle school hip hop, underscoring the program's depth, development, and continued excellence at every level; and

 

Whereas, the program has achieved remarkable long-term success, including sixteen national championship titles and sixteen state championship titles over the past five years; and

 

Whereas, the Chapin High School girls dance program has flourished under the leadership and guidance of Head Coach Brittany Olecheck Orr, along with dedicated assistant coaches, Hayley Olecheck, Nicole Urbany, and Kim Langley, whose leadership and mentorship have been instrumental to the program's continued success; and

 

Whereas, the members of the South Carolina Senate appreciate the pride and recognition that the Chapin High School girls dance team has brought to its school and community and look forward to a future filled with further accomplishments by the team and its talented students.  Now, therefore,

 

Be it resolved by the Senate:

 

That the members of the South Carolina Senate, by this resolution, congratulate the Chapin High School girls varsity dance team, coaches, program, and school officials on an outstanding 2025-2026 season and honor their continued legacy of excellence.

 

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to the Chapin High School girls dance program; head coach, Brittany Olecheck Orr; and principal, Ed Davis.
