A senate RESOLUTION
TO EXPRESS PROFOUND SORROW UPON THE PASSING OF Eloise Stone Coleman AND TO EXTEND THE DEEPEST SYMPATHY TO HER FAMILY AND MANY FRIENDS.
Whereas, the members of the South Carolina Senate were deeply saddened to learn of the death of Eloise Stone Coleman on February 16, 2026; and
Whereas, Mrs. Coleman was born on August 11, 1939, to parents George and Mary Stone; and
Whereas, Mrs. Coleman worked for the Fairfield County school district, at McCrorey-Liston School, for nineteen years. After retiring from the school district, she continued her work for eleven years at the Babcock Home for Special Needs in Blair, where she cared for others with compassion and commitment; and
Whereas, a devout Christian, she was a member of Gethsemane Baptist Church for many years. She served with the AP&B Society and the Women's Home Aide Society; and
Whereas, Mrs. Coleman enjoyed cooking delicious meals and special dishes for her family and friends. She especially devoted herself to preparing Sunday feasts for her children and grandchildren, a tradition that brought her immense happiness; and
Whereas, she was preceded in death by her husband, Willie Frank Coleman, her nine siblings, Robert Lee, James, Lily, Ruth, Sammie, George, Thomas, Willie Lee, Annie Mae, and Emma; and her granddaughter, Shell; and
Whereas, Mrs. Coleman leaves to cherish her memory her seven children, Wilhelmina (Arthur), Dave (Lisa), Elizabeth, Wilson (Regail), Michael (Trish), Bobby (Ruby), and Thomas; fifteen grandchildren; thirty-nine great-grandchildren; ten great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and friends. She will be greatly missed. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the Senate:
That the members of the South Carolina Senate, by this resolution, express profound sorrow upon the passing of Eloise Stone Coleman and extend the deepest sympathy to her family and many friends.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Eloise Stone Coleman.
