A senate RESOLUTION

 

TO CONGRATULATE THE Southside High SCHOOL BOYS Soccer TEAM, COACHES, AND SCHOOL OFFICIALS ON AN OUTSTANDING SEASON AND TO HONOR THEM FOR WINNING THE SOUTH CAROLINA CLASS AAAA BOYS Soccer STATE CHAMPIONSHIP.

 

Whereas, the South Carolina Senate is proud to recognize the Southside High School boys soccer team for winning the South Carolina Class AAAA boys soccer state championship on May 22, 2026, at Memorial Stadium in Columbia; and

 

Whereas, this historic win marks the program's first state championship in school history; and

 

Whereas, in the championship game, the Southside Tigers defeated the Gray Collegiate Academy Eagles by a score of 3-0. After a scoreless first half, Erik Martinez scored two goals within two minutes. Adriel Rodriguez scored one more to round out the match; and

 

Whereas, with an exceptional season overall, the team had a record of 17-1 going into the championship game; and

 

Whereas, the Southside High School boys soccer team has flourished under the leadership and guidance of Coach Luis Kuronya; and

 

Whereas, the members of the South Carolina Senate appreciate the pride and recognition that the Southside High School boys soccer team has brought to its school and community and look forward to a future filled with further accomplishments by the team and its talented athletes.  Now, therefore,

 

Be it resolved by the Senate:

 

That the members of the South Carolina Senate, by this resolution, congratulate the Southside High School boys soccer team, coaches, and school officials on an outstanding season and honor them for winning the South Carolina Class AAAA boys soccer state championship.

 

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to the Southside High School boys soccer team, Coach Luis Kuronya, and Principal Tatiana Shea.
