A house RESOLUTION

to congratulate the Chapin High School dance teams, coaches, and school officials on an outstanding season and to honor them for winning state championship titles.

Whereas, the South Carolina House of Representatives is proud to recognize the Chapin High School Varsity and Junior Varsity dance teams for being named State Champions in Varsity Pom and Junior Varsity Pom at the South Carolina Dance Association 2025 State Dance Team Championship held on February 22, 2025, at the University of South Carolina in Aiken; and

Whereas, since its founding in 2011, the Chapin Girls Dance program has exemplified excellence in competitive dance, earning fourteen National Championships and securing nine State titles in just the past three years, making them a powerhouse in the dance community; and

Whereas, under the visionary leadership of Head Coach Brittany Olecheck Orr and her dedicated coaching team, Assistant Coaches Hayley Olecheck, Nicole Urbany, Raygan Brown, and Ballet Instructor Kim Langley, the program has thrived, shaping both strong athletes and well-rounded individuals; and

Whereas, the twenty-one-member varsity team includes Ansley Pietro, Ariana Riddle, Ava Woodward, Brianna Valverde, Casey Meetze, Daniela Dias, Delaney Wells, Ellie Monts, Evangelin Garcia-Cooper, Hadley Rhoden, Kalei Tucker, Kiersten Mack, Maren Koch, Marisa Rankin, Mary Wells, Miller Paige Finney, Rowan Hardee, Rylee Strickland, Sarah Takach, Sidney Hearne, and Taylor Knight.  The seventeen-member junior varsity team includes Aniston Hooks, Aubrey Drake, Clara Raye, Emma Shepard, Julia Cromer, Julianna Walsh, Kate Cannon, Kennedy Prophet, Lilah Martin, Lyla Furse, Madelyn Pinner, Madison Coakley, Marsha Boryk, McKinley Summers, Presley Short, Savannah Frueauf, and Sloan Donahue; and

Whereas, the team's success has come through dedication and perseverance, particularly in the face of financial challenges.  Without school or district funding, the Chapin Girls Dance teams rely on the Chapin Girls Dance Booster Club Inc., a nonprofit organization made up of volunteer parents and Coach Orr, to sustain the program, coordinate operations, and lead fundraising efforts; and

Whereas, among the team's key fundraising initiatives is their annual summer dance clinic.  The event, hosted by the varsity and junior varsity teams, welcomes children aged four through rising fifth grade.  It not only allows the dancers to mentor and inspire the next generation, but also helps fund the team's annual participation in the prestigious Contest of Champions Nationals in Orlando, Florida, each March; and

Whereas, the Chapin Girls Dance Program stands as a beacon of discipline, unity, and community engagement, bringing together talented students from across Chapin-area schools.  Beyond their impressive achievements on the dance floor, team members uphold high academic standards and actively participate in service projects, setting an example as both athletes and citizens; and

Whereas, the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives deeply appreciate the pride and recognition that the Chapin High School dance teams have brought to their school and community and look forward to a future filled with further accomplishments by the teams and their talented athletes.  Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, congratulate the Chapin High School dance teams, coaches, and school officials on an outstanding season and honor them for winning state championship titles.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to the Chapin Girls Dance Head Coach Brittany Olecheck Orr.
