A house RESOLUTION

 

TO HONOR AND CONGRATULATE ANDREA MASSIE VAUGHN, U.S. PROBATION OFFICER FOR THE DISTRICT OF SOUTH CAROLINA, AND TO EXTEND TO HER BEST WISHES ON HER WELL-DESERVED RECENT RETIREMENT.

 

Whereas, Andrea Massie Vaughn's journey of twenty-six years with the U.S. Probation Office in the District of South Carolina is a testament to dedication, perseverance, and an unwavering commitment to excellence. On December 31, 2025, she retired from a respected career in criminal justice that began on December 4, 1999, when she first took up her duties with the U.S. Probation Office; and

 

Whereas, in preparation for her career, this Columbia native graduated from the University of South Carolina with a bachelor's degree in criminal justice (1994), followed by a master's degree from Xavier University in the same subject (1998); and

 

Whereas, over the years, she served her profession as a member of the National Association of Blacks in Criminal Justice, South Carolina chapter, for which she is also a former chapter president (2010-2011) and a current board member (2005-2025); and

 

Whereas, believing strongly in active participation in her community, Andrea Vaughn serves that community as a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. and the South Carolina Federation of Women and Youth Clubs. She has been a member of the latter group for twenty years and currently bears the title of state first vice president for that worthy organization. Further, this woman of faith finds her spiritual home at New Ebenezer Baptist Church, where she serves as a deaconess; and

 

Whereas, Mrs. Vaughn finds strength for her labors in the encouragement and support of her family: her husband, Tony Vaughn; the couple's children, Antonio, Terrell, and Tony Jr.; and the senior Vaughns' two lovely granddaughters, Jasmine and Jade; and

 

Whereas, on the occasion of her retirement, Andrea Vaughn's colleagues gathered to honor her at a celebratory event held on December 18, 2025; and

 

Whereas, Andrea Vaughn had no small impact on the quality of service provided by the U.S. Probation Office in the District of South Carolina during her twenty-six-year career. It is a great pleasure to celebrate her outstanding service and to wish her well as she enjoys retirement and the more leisurely pace of the days ahead. Now, therefore,

 

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

 

That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, honor and congratulate Andrea Massie Vaughn, U.S. probation officer for the District of South Carolina, and extend to her best wishes on her well-deserved recent retirement.

 

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Andrea Massie Vaughn.
