A house RESOLUTION

TO RECOGNIZE AND HONOR THE MCBEE HIGH SCHOOL VARSITY BASEBALL TEAM, COACHES, AND SCHOOL OFFICIALS FOR AN OUTSTANDING SEASON AND TO CONGRATULATE THEM FOR WINNING THE 2025 DIVISION A STATE BASEBALL CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE.

Whereas, the South Carolina House of Representatives is pleased to learn that on May 31, 2025, at Francis Marion University, the McBee Panthers varsity baseball team became state champions for the fourth time since 2016, after defeating the Lake View High School Wild Gators two games to one to capture the 2025 Division A State Baseball Championship series; and

Whereas, determined to come out on top after losing game two of the championship series, McBee gained the momentum early with three runs in the third inning, a lead which the Panthers maintained and extended throughout the contest with a combination of stand-up pitching, defense, hitting, and base running, resulting in a final score of 8-1; and

Whereas, McBee starting senior pitcher, Aiden Hughes, was on the mound for all seven innings, leading the team to victory, giving up only five hits and one run over seven innings, striking out seven and walking two. Hughes also helped the Panthers secure the win with two runs batted in and went 1-for-3 at the plate; and

Whereas, other standout performances for the Panthers included third-inning scoring by Cohen Reid, J.J. Melton, and Landon Tedder, who reached base on a fielder's choice, by drawing a walk, and by singling, respectively; a fourth-inning run by Manning Tolsen on a hit by Cohen Reid; and insurance runs later in the game, including a run by Evan Norris on a sacrifice RBI fly by Landon Tedder. The win for McBee showcased the strong teamwork, dedication, and perseverance of every Panther; and

Whereas, Head Coach Josh Tiller was confident in his team and the hard work that they put in to get to this point. He knew that the loss to Lake View would be a motivator to his team, urging them to fight hard and get the win. Both teams came into this final game with something to prove and McBee played a great game that was a testament to their skilled players and dedicated coaches, as well as their devoted school and community support; and

Whereas, in a sport that demands discipline, focus, and strength, Coach Tiller and his skilled coaching staff utilized their own experiences and passion for the sport to craft a championship-caliber team and teach these young athletes life principles and lessons that will prove invaluable through life on and off the diamond; and

Whereas, the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives value the pride and recognition that the McBee Panthers baseball team has brought to their school and community and look forward to following their future successes. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, recognize and honor the McBee High School varsity baseball team, coaches, and school officials for an outstanding season and congratulate them for winning the 2025 Division A State Baseball Championship title.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to McBee High School Principal Sherry Young and Head Coach Josh Tiller.
